In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Dear readers, today we embark on a journey through the incredible life and wisdom of Hazrat Ali (RA), a figure known for his unmatched intellect, valor, and unshakable faith. These stories are not only historical but also offer deep moral and spiritual lessons that can transform the way we think and live.

Birth and Early Life

Hazrat Ali (RA) was born on the 13th of Rajab in the year 599 CE, according to some scholars. There is a widely held belief that he was born inside the sacred Kaaba, The Blessed Birth Inside the Kaaba

The story of Hazrat Ali (RA) begins with a miracle. His mother, Fatimah bint Asad, felt intense labor pains and, in her desperation, found herself near the sacred walls of the Kaaba in Makkah. As she prayed for ease, a divine miracle unfolded , the wall of the Kaaba split open. She entered, and the wall sealed shut behind her. Inside that most sacred sanctuary, she gave birth to her son: Ali ibn Abi Talib (RA) , the only person in history to be born in the Kaaba.

His birth was not ordinary. It was a divine sign that this child would grow up to become one of the most exceptional figures in Islamic history. His name, “Ali,” which means “The Exalted” or “High,” was divinely inspired and foretold his lofty status among men.

Growing Up in the Prophetic Household

Hazrat Ali was raised in the house of his cousin — none other than Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) himself. Due to a severe famine in Makkah, Abu Talib (Ali’s father) was struggling to feed all his children. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), known for his mercy and generosity, took Ali (RA) into his care to ease the burden on Abu Talib. This wasn’t just an act of kindness — it was a divine arrangement. Growing up under the direct care of the Prophet, Ali learned firsthand the values of truthfulness, justice, courage, and unwavering faith. He never bowed to an idol, never indulged in the polytheistic customs of the Quraysh. Even as a child, he reflected pure Tawheed (Oneness of God) , untouched by the ignorance of Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic ignorance).

The First Youth to Accept Islam

When Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) received divine revelation, Hazrat Ali (RA), just ten years old, was among the first to embrace Islam—indeed, the first child to do so. His unwavering support for the Prophet from such a young age demonstrated his strong character and foresight

At the tender age of ten, Hazrat Ali (RA) witnessed the moment when Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) received the first revelation from Angel Jibreel (AS) in the cave of Hira. When the Prophet shared the message of Islam with his close family, Hazrat Ali accepted it without hesitation — making him the first child to accept Islam.Even when others ridiculed him, even when the city of Makkah turned hostile, Ali (RA) remained steadfast. When the Prophet (PBUH) called his relatives to the message of Islam and asked who would support him, young Ali stood up and said boldly, “O Messenger of Allah, I will support you, even if I am the youngest among them!

The Night of Hijrah: A Boy’s Courage, A Warrior’s Heart

Perhaps one of the most courageous moments in Ali’s (RA) life came during the Hijrah (Migration). As the Prophet (PBUH) prepared to leave Makkah for Madinah, the Quraysh planned to assassinate him in his sleep. To deceive them, Hazrat Ali slept in the Prophet’s bed, fully aware that he could be killed. That night, a teenager lay in the Prophet’s place, risking his life for the sake of Islam. When asked later how he felt lying there, Ali (RA) replied with serenity:

I was at peace knowing that the Prophet (PBUH) was safe.”This was no ordinary loyalty — this was love, devotion, and fearless iman (faith)

Divine Brotherhood

The Prophet (PBUH) once declared, “O Ali, you are my brother in this world and the hereafter.” He also said, “I am the city of knowledge and Ali is its gate,” underscoring Hazrat Ali’s unmatched knowledge and spiritual insight.

A Lesson in Charity and Faith

One day, a poor man approached Hazrat Ali (RA) for help. Ali asked his son Hasan to fetch one dirham from his mother, Fatima (RA). When Hasan returned saying that the dirhams were set aside for flour, Ali (RA) insisted, “True faith is trusting what is with Allah more than what is in your own hand.” Fatima (RA) gave all six dirhams, and Ali gave them to the poor man. Later, through a trade involving a camel, Allah returned him exactly sixty dirhams, ten times what he gave—a direct reminder of Allah’s promise of return in charity.

A Plot Exposed

During the Prophet’s (PBUH) migration, many entrusted him with valuables. These were left with Hazrat Ali (RA) to be returned to their rightful owners. When a man falsely accused Ali (RA) of withholding 80 dirhams, Hazrat Ali conducted a detailed interrogation. The accuser’s “witnesses” gave conflicting testimonies. One said the money was given at noon, another at sunset, another at dawn. Realizing the conspiracy, the man confessed that Abu Sufyan’s son had bribed him. This incident highlights Ali’s wisdom, patience, and deep sense of justice.

A Just Ruler

In another case, two travelers argued over dividing eight dirhams after sharing bread. One claimed five loaves, the other three. Hazrat Ali calculated how many pieces each person had eaten, concluding that the man with three loaves deserved only one dirham, while the other rightfully earned seven. This mathematical precision and sense of fairness left all present in awe.

His Miraculous Justice

A young man once cried out to Hazrat Ali (RA), claiming he was falsely sentenced to death for killing his master. When Ali asked if he committed the murder, the boy admitted it but said he did so to protect his honor, as the master had tried to abuse him. Ali opened an investigation, eventually ordering the grave to be examined—only to find the body missing. Ali (RA) then declared that this was a sign the man was indeed wronged, referencing a hadith that such sinners are buried among the people of Lut. Justice was served based on faith and deep prophetic knowledge.

A Spring in the Desert

While leading an army, Hazrat Ali (RA) and his men were dying of thirst. A nearby priest claimed water was two miles away. Instead, Ali instructed his men to dig at a specific spot. A large rock blocked their way, but with his own hands, Ali lifted the stone, revealing a gushing spring. The priest, in awe, converted to Islam on the spot, saying that his holy book had predicted this spring could only be revealed by a prophet or his companion.

A Legacy of Bravery and Truth

From his birth in the Kaaba to his martyrdom decades later, Hazrat Ali (RA)’s life was marked by sacrifice, justice, and a profound love for the Prophet (PBUH). He became the fourth caliph of Islam, known for his wisdom, eloquence, and unmatched courage. But long before the battles, the sermons, and the leadership , there was a boy with a pure heart, sleeping in the Prophet’s bed, offering himself to protect the Messenger of Allah. His childhood was not just a story it was the foundation of a legacy that continues to inspire millions.

In Conclusion

Hazrat Ali (RA) was more than just a companion of the Prophet—he was a fountain of wisdom, a protector of justice, and a symbol of courage and piety. His life continues to inspire millions. Through his examples, we learn the value of trust in Allah, the importance of knowledge, and the unwavering commitment to truth and justice.

Hazrat Ali (RA) teaches us that age is no barrier to bravery, and faith can illuminate even the darkest of times. From a miraculous birth to heroic loyalty, his story is one every generation should hear and pass on — not just as history, but as a living lesson in courage, belief, and love for the truth.

May Allah bless us with the ability to follow such noble examples. Ameen
