Why No Divine Book Was Revealed After the Qur’an? A Clear Insight Based on the Qur’an and Hadith

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah.
Dear readers, one of the six pillars of Islamic faith is belief in the divine books revealed by Allah. Throughout history, Allah sent numerous prophets and messengers to guide mankind, and with them, He revealed various divine scriptures and scrolls. Among these, the four most well-known scriptures are the Torah, the Psalms, the Gospel, and finally, the Qur’an.

But after the revelation of the Qur’an, no other divine book has ever been sent down. Why?

In today’s post, we will explore — with evidence from the Qur’an and authentic Hadith — the reasons why the Qur’an was the final revelation and why no divine scripture followed it. Stay with ” Islamic Guidings ” until the end to grasp this crucial topic.

What Are Divine Books?

Divine books  are revelations from Allah sent down to His prophets for the guidance of mankind. These include instructions for life, moral teachings, commands and prohibitions, as well as messages about the Hereafter and to live on Earth . Allah says in the Qur’an that He sent prophets with glad tidings and warnings, and with them, He revealed books of truth to settle disputes among people.

Belief in the Books – A Pillar of Faith

Surah Al Baqrah , Verse 285

Surah Al-Baqarah (Surah Number 2: Verse Number 285) states:
“The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and so have the believers. All of them have believed in Allah, His angels, His books, and His messengers…”

This confirms that belief in all divine books revealed by Allah is essential and is one of the pillars of Iman (faith).

The Main Revealed Books in Islam

1. Tawrat (Torah) – Revealed to Prophet Musa / Moses  – (PBUH) عليه السلام.

2. Zabur (Psalms) – Revealed to Prophet Dawud / David (PBUH)  عليه السلام.

3. Injil – Revealed to Prophet Isa / Jesus (PBUH)  عليه السلام.

4. Qur’an – Revealed to the final Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

These books guided their respective nations. However, over time, the previous scriptures were altered or lost, which eventually led to the need for a final, preserved book (Quran)

The Qur’an – The Final and Complete Revelation

The Qur’an was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as the final divine scripture. Allah says:

Surah -2 & verse -2

This is the Book in which there is no doubt, a guidance for the righteous.(Surah Al-Baqarah: 2)

It is the only book that is completely preserved and memorized by millions around the world. The Qur’an not only serves as religious scripture but offers a complete and timeless way of life.

Were There Other Scriptures?

10 Suhuf to Adam -PBUH / عليه السلام
50 to Shis -PBUH / عليه السلام
30 to Idris – PBUH / عليه السلام
10 to Ibrahim- PBUH / عليه السلام

Some say the total number of revealed texts is 104, but this is based on weak or unauthentic narrations. In reality, only Allah knows the exact number. What’s important is to believe in all the books that were revealed — whether named or unnamed.

Why No More Books After the Qur’an Revealed ?

There are Two core reasons behind.

1. The Religion Was Perfected:
Allah declared in the Qur’an (Surah Al-Ma’idah:

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

١ؕ اَلْیَوْمَ اَكْمَلْتُ لَكُمْ دِیْنَكُمْ وَ اَتْمَمْتُ عَلَیْكُمْ نِعْمَتِیْ وَ رَضِیْتُ لَكُمُ الْاِسْلَامَ دِیْنًا

Surah 5 – Al-Maaida – Ayah 3

“Today I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favor upon you, and chosen Islam as your religion.”

After the completion of Islam, there was no need for any further revelation

2. The Qur’an Is Fully Protected:
Unlike previous books, the Qur’an is divinely protected. Allah says

Surah Number 15 & Ayah Number 9

“Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur’an and indeed, We will be its guardian.” (Surah Al-Hijr: 9)

Since the Qur’an cannot be changed or lost, there’s no need for another book

Global Reach and Preservation

Today, through modern communication and the internet, the Qur’an has reached nearly every corner of the world. There’s no place left that requires a new book. Its teachings are timeless and universal — applicable to all people, in all eras.

Final Thoughts

Just as Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is the final messenger for all of humanity until the Day of Judgment, the Qur’an is the final divine book for all mankind. Believing in it, following its guidance, and living by its light is a fundamental duty of every Muslim.

May Allah bless us with firm belief in all His revealed books and grant us the ability to live according to the Qur’an and guide us to the path of Islam

Ameen.
